Rebecca Taylor

Casting Director

Bex started her career in television at the BBC in 2011 and since then has worked on some of the biggest shows in telly, from X Factor to Big Brother and everything in between.

For three years, Bex led the casting team on ITV’s Prime Time show Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway as Senior Casting Producer, in charge of casting incredibly niche briefs, and surprising incredible members of the public from all walks of life, whether that’s rewarding a deserving act, or setting them up for hilarious undercover filming. No casting brief too challenging; Someone who wants to ask their step dad to adopt them? Reuniting a soldier with their family after months of being away? Casting a whole audience of 411 people who had done incredible things and surprising every single one of them? No problem!

Bex loves getting stuck in, particularly on branded content projects, and has cast for brands such as Suzuki, Coca Cola, Kelloggs and Quorn, bringing real people into the heart of a project. She also loves to work on charity projects, seeking out inspiring stories for social media campaigns. With a keen eye for finding strong, engaging and heartwarming contributors, Bex takes a brief and nails it every time.

Bex is also experienced in casting and working with children and is instrumental in creating detailed protocols and duty of care procedures. Having started her career as a Butlins Redcoat to casting for Sky Kids, a highlight was finding Little Ant and Dec for Saturday Night Takeaway and producing them on set.

Knowing the importance of inclusivity, Bex has also helped shape the way projects implement representation surrounding Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent people and has been a part of panel talks for ITV Able to discuss this from a casting perspective.

All this, plus she’s an award winning Wedding Celebrant on the side too

Jo Somner

Jo has been casting for well over a decade and has enjoyed a varied career. Running the casting team on the very first series of Channel 4’s hugely successful Naked Attraction, she was instrumental in developing casting processes and welfare protocols that paved the way for a whole new genre of dating show.

Having cast everyone from pre-schoolers questioning love on The Secret Life of 4 Year Olds to 80 year old divas performing at the Isle of White Festival for BBC 2’s Rock Til We Drop, Jo’s real passion lies in comedy entertainment. She has cast and produced contributors on the likes of Joe Lycett’s Late Night Lycett, Tom Allen’s Coming to Town, Your Face or Mine with Katherine Ryan & Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow and Rosie Jones’ Out of Order - which won a Broadcast Digital Award for Gamechanger Programme of the Year.

As well as comedy, Jo has worked extensively in documentaries and specialist factual, requiring a journalistic eye and highly sensitive approach - whether it be people on fertility journeys, those going through gender transitions, young women considering hormonal contraception, multi millionaires talking about wealth or NHS workers who’ve sacked it all off to live in the artic circle.

Working in development, Jo’s casting has helped win commissions for BBC/ Netflix’s Win the Wilderness, Channel 4’s Naked Attraction and Know Your Sh!t - The Gut Stuff, also for Channel 4.

Proudly neurodivergent, Jo is a qualified Mental Health First Aider, has been on panels for casting talks at RTS West and Bristol University.

She also somehow finds the time to write sitcoms, sketches and comedy shorts whilst studying for a Masters in Comedy Writing and also performs Stand Up.

Describing herself as a ‘lockdown cliche’ she left London mid pandemic to move to the wilds of Bristol and splits her time working between London and being out west with her young family.
